We decided to to fortify tomato garden fence with chicken wire.
While clearing the area, the other farm hand found the missing duck sitting on a clutch of eggs. The Duck had been missing since the night I arrived, Wednesday, 4 days. She is probably the culprit that has been getting to the tomatoes. The red oval below identifies the burrow through the fence. We will candle test the eggs; we might have ducklings before I depart.
She refused to move, snapping at anyone who came near her. Our host directed us to leave her, give her food and water and fence her off to protect her from the predators.
I gave her food and water.
She immediately started lapping up water.
Identified possible fence repair.

Visit with Leo, the working farm dog. He stays out at night to protect the farm.
Located and completed actual required fence repair.
Farm Owner performed Candle test to check Duck egg fertilization. Notice the darker spot lower center indicating it could be a fertilized egg.
